Inspired by La Dolce Vita

Updated: Jan 23, 2021

With travel restrictions likely lasting for a while, I thought I would reminisce about my past travels and use them as inspiration for new branding projects and for practice. Here's part one of my travel nostalgia branding series.

Venice, Italy.

The first time I went to Venice was way back in 2013 when I studied abroad in Italy. My roommate and I took a train there for the weekend. Even the rain couldn't diminish our enchantment. It was so beautiful! Here are some of the photos I used for inspiration.

The primary logo's outline mirrors the shape of Venetian windows, and obviously, the logo elements are inspired by a scene at the Rialto Bridge.

The colors of Venice are distinct. You have the cool aquamarine blue of the lagoons, dark painted doors of the mansions that line up the water, violets of its famous carnevale and the warm, rosy colors of its buildings.

I really enjoyed working on this mini project and taking a walk down memory lane. Browsing my photos, I think I'm going to do something light and airy next time. Stay tuned! Next up is Muscat, Oman.
